EN This paper evaluates the potential of implementing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on post-World War II public housing in Poznań, Poland. It investigates the practicality of utilizing residential buildings’ façades and roofs for solar energy generation. Using 3D models and solar radiation simulations via Rhino/UMI and Ladybug + Honeybee software, it assesses the buildings’ solar exposure influenced by factors such as orientation, size, and surrounding vegetation. Economic viability is analyzed through initial costs, return on investment, and long-term energy savings. The study finds diverse solar energy potentials across different building types, highlighting significant opportunities for enhancing sustainable energy usage in urban environments. This approach aids stakeholders in making informed decisions about solar investments, contributing to Poland’s transition to renewable energy sources.
