Abstract

EN The perception of urban spaces is a multifaceted and complex process influenced by many external factors and those internal to the observer. The author has carried out research into the images of the city that remain in the memory of a person who has visited a given city in the past and the elements with which he or she associates it. The experiences of the respondents are compared by the author with her own experiences and images of the city being an architect. Due to the fact that the perception of space is influenced by established patterns and bearing in mind that architects interact with architecture and urban planning on a daily basis in deeper relations and multi-level aspects than the average person, the author believes that the image of the city remembered by an architect will be slightly different from the image of the city remembered by observers not connected with architecture and art.
