EN We demonstrate the relevance of the Palo Alto School's conceptual categories of systemic analysis to the study of interpersonal conflicts and in particular hassle at work, based on a synthesis of the literature on conflicts, their management and their types. We propose to articulate its analytical concepts with the actualization of life histories and the internalization of contexts, in the sense of Bourdieu's habitus. This conceptual framework is then used to analyze a case at a Canadian university, which unfolded in two stages: an interpersonal harassment conflict leading to a conflict between the conflict management department and the staff union. The systemic analysis of relationships enabled us to understand the interpersonal conflict in terms of symmetrical schismogenesis and then "rigid complementarity", creating a form of relational runaway. The systemic analysis of relations between new trade unionists and members of the university management shows a positive schismogenesis and enables us to grasp why and how an institutional rupture occurred, allowing the emergence of cooperation to prevent or resolve interpersonal conflicts.
