PL Narzędziem definiowania tożsamości na podstawie wartości społecznych współczesnych miast staje się pojęcie sieci. Pojęcie to, w zależności od kontekstu, występuje w wielu postaciach. Istotą więzi społecznych związanych z miastem jest nałożenie dwóch kategorii relacji: wzajemnych interakcji społecznych jednostek oraz relacji (identyfikacji) jednostek z otoczeniem architektonicznym. Przeniesienie na grunt analizy sieciowej, w której zastosowano zasady matematyczne relacji między jednostkami ludzkimi, jest zadaniem trudniejszym aniżeli modelowanie procesów fizycznych. Stopień komplikacji wzrasta przy badaniu zależności między przestrzeniami: fizyczną i społeczną. Z punktu widzenia teorii sieci złożonych mamy wtedy do czynienia z rodzajem grafu dwudzielnego, w którym wierzchołki należą do dwóch rozłącznych zbiorów. Innego rodzaju próbą wyjaśnienia tej podwójnej relacji jest teoria aktora-sieci. Bruno Latour zakłada hipotezę sieci materialno-semiotycznych pomiędzy czynnikami ludzkimi i pozaludzkimi (przedmiotami i elementami przyrody). Wspólnie te elementy tworzą „poszerzone" społeczeństwo - collective. W artykule omówiono różne postacie sieci. Jako swego rodzaju metafory używają jej filozofowie (metafora rhizomy - kłącza Gillesa Deleuze'a i Felixa Guatarriego), za pomocą tego pojęcia opisują zawiły współczesny świat socjolodzy (Network Society - Manuel Castells), wreszcie w sposób niezwykle wnikliwy używają go w swoich analizach matematycy i fizycy (sztuczne sieci neuronowe).
EN The concept of the network is becoming an instrument which is used for defining identity on the basis of the social values of contemporary cities. Depending on the context, this concept may occur in many different shapes and forms. The essence of the social bonds associated with the city is the overlap between two categories of relations: mutual social interactions of individuals and the relations (identifications) of individuals with the architectural environment. Transferring the relations between human individuals onto the ground of network analysis based on mathematical principles is a task which is more difficult than modeling physical processes. The degree of complication increases when one tries to fathom the interdependence between the spaces: the physical and the social one. From the point of view of the theory of complex networks, we are then dealing here with a kind of bipartite graph, in which the apexes belong to two disjoint sets. Another attempt to explain this double relations is the theory of actor-network. Bruno Latour puts forward a hypothesis if material-semiotic networks between the human and non-human factors (objects and elements of nature). Together these elements create an "extended" society - collective. The article discusses various forms and shapes of networks. The concept is used by philosophers as a specific type of metaphor (Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guatarri's metaphor of the rhizome); the sociologists too describe the contemporary world by means of the network theory ( Network Society - Manuel Castells); finally, the mathematicians and physicists use it in their analyses in an extremely penetrating way (artificial neuron networks).
