Abstract

EN This paper presents a comparative analysis of various forms of organisation of production on the basis of customised manufacturing. The analysis of the literature looks as types of workstations and organisation of production. The study was conducted at the assembly division in a company manufacturing seats for means of collective transport. In the first step, information was collected on the products manufactured and their technological similarity. Next, timing of consecutive assembly operations was measured for the same seat designs for nested and linear production models. Durations of assembly cycles were determined and performance was calculated for the nest and the line, broken by seat designs. The results were compared against benchmarks. The paper closes with a comparison of the results obtained for the nest and the line.
