Abstract

EN The aim of the article is to assess the potential of regions of the cross-border area for the development of intermodal freight transport. The discussed cross-border area includes two voivodeships – Silesia and Opole. The choice of regions is dictated by research into the strategy of international freight transport development covering three countries – Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Separated territories (Moravian-Silesian Region, Silesia and Opolskie Voivodship, Local-government Country of Žilina) of these countries are part of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation – EGTC TRITIA. The analysis and assessment of potential is based on a series of reports, CSO data, expert opinions and a synthetic indicator of the potential assessment of the region, based on the taxonomic scope of development. To determine it, a model object (region) was used in relation to which the potential of the analyzed regions of the cross-border area was assessed.
