Abstract

EN The paper addresses synthesis of planar mechanisms approximating open paths. The technique is introduced and discussed on the example of the four-bar linkage, although it can be applied to a planar mechanism with four links as it does not refer to mathematical formulas describing the geometry of a mechanism. It suffices to know the trajectories of the joints of the coupler a point of which traces a required path. An objective function is proposed and minimized by the evolutionary algorithm. The synthesis of four-bar linkages generating arcs given parametrically including straight line and square angle are carried out. The results obtained prove that the method is effective.
