PL Architektura była i jest elementem przekazu społecznego, określającym pozycję społeczną, status finansowy, preferencje estetyczne jej właściciela oraz aktualne trendy. Informacja zawarta w budynku może być przekazywana sposób dosłowny, wykorzystywać kontekst kulturowy, znane i zrozumiałe symbole lub poszukiwać i tworzyć nowe. Architektura posługuje się tymi samymi lub podobnymi środkami artystycznymi, jak wszystkie dziedziny sztuk wizualnych. Jednak jako jedyna dziedzina sztuk wizualnych porusza się w określonych wymogach funkcjonalnych, uwarunkowaniach prawnych, w kontekście społecznym i relacjach estetycznych i przestrzennych z innymi obiektami, co wywiera wpływ na wybór rodzaju środków wyrazu, na treść komunikatu oraz na końcowy efekt wizualny. Projektant zawsze stoi przed wyborem podążania indywidualną ścieżką twórczą a poszukiwaniem kompromisu pomiędzy wolnością artystyczną i ładem przestrzennym.
EN Architecture was and is an element of social communication, determining the social position, financial status, aesthetic preferences of the owner and current trends in architecture. Information contained in a building can be conveyed literally, use the cultural context, known and understandable symbols, or search for and create new ones. Architecture uses the same or similar artistic means as all visual arts. However, it is the only field of visual arts that deals with specific functional requirements, legal conditions, in the social context, as well as aesthetic and spatial relations with other objects, which influences the choice of the type of means of expression, the content of the message and the final visual effect. The designer is faced with the choice of following an individual creative path and seeking a compromise between artistic freedom and spatial order.
