PL W triadzie Witruwiusza znajdujemy określenie venustas (piękno) będące jedną z trzech podstawowych cech architektury. Obcowanie z pięknem należy do istotnych potrzeb psychicznych człowieka, a architektura towarzyszy mu nieustannie. Liczne badania pokazują świadome lub podświadome reakcje estetyczne użytkowników architektury. Środowisko mieszkaniowe jest obszarem, którego architektura, układ urbanistyczny i jakość estetyczna mają wpływ na jakość życia i zdrowie człowieka. W tym środowisku jednostka ludzka kształtuje się, mieszka, wypoczywa, a coraz częściej pracuje. W artykule określono elementy strukturalne stałe i zmienne, wpływające na jakość estetyczną środowiska mieszkaniowego i jakość życia. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono tzw. skali ludzkiej i elementom przyrodniczym. Wskazano szczegółowe cechy, jakie powinno mieć środowisko mieszkaniowe, z punktu widzenia estetyki i zdrowia mieszkańców. W publikacji wykorzystano treści zawarte w książce Zrównoważone środowisko mieszkaniowe. Społeczne, oszczędne, piękne Grażyny Schneider-Skalskiej i pracy doktorskiej Skala ludzka wnętrza urbanistycznego w wielorodzinnych osiedlach mieszkaniowych Wojciecha Sumleta.
EN In Vitruvius’ triad we find the term venustas – beauty, as one of the three basic features of architecture. The need for communing with beauty is one of the essential psychological needs of man, and architecture accompanies man constantly. Numerous studies show the conscious or subconscious aesthetic reactions of architecture users. The housing environment is an area whose architecture, urban layout and aesthetic quality have an impact on the quality of life and human health. In this environment, the human being is formed, lives, rests, and more and more often works. The article defines the fixed and variable structural elements influencing the aesthetic quality of the housing environment and the quality of life. Particular attention was paid to the so-called human scale and natural elements. Detailed features that the housing environment should have from the point of view of aesthetics and health of the inhabitants were indicated. The publication uses the content of the book Sustainable housing environment. Social, economical, beautiful by Grażyna Schneider-Skalska and the doctoral dissertation entitled Human scale of urban interior in multifamily housing estates by Wojciech Sumlet.
