EN Solving the general problem of transverse load distribution is of key significance in determining the load-carrying capacity of a large number of slab bridge structures, which may differ in carriageway width and length of span. In the article, the sine series method is employed for load distribution. In the method, the function of slab deflection is represented by a single sine series. The analysis considered bridge structures with two, three and four traffic lanes. The transverse load distribution functions were presented in the form of nomograms by means of which ordinate values of transverse load distribution at both edges and in the centre of the slab can be easily read. In order to determine the ordinate values of transverse load distribution influence lines at any point on the slab span, after the determination of the extreme ordinates and the middle ordinate of the influence line, a parametric equation was determined of a curve describing the shape of the influence line of transverse load distribution. The sine series method ensures good representation of the real transverse load distribution in slab spans. The use of this method for spans not smaller than the slab width makes it possible to obtain ordinate values of influence lines in bridge spans with a high degree of accuracy. The method can be applied e.g. in determining the possibility of non-standard vehicles passing over slab bridge structures.
