EN Under the conditions of the catastrophic system failure development in the Polish electric power system (PPS), the creation of islanded systems powered by municipal CHPs’ generating units can be one of ways to maintain production capacity of the units. Block BC50 island load system can be formed by auxiliaries and common services of EC Karolin and industrial loads of plants located in close vicinity to the thermal-electric power station. In the paper, results of the first experiment of separating the load island with BC50 block are reported, and the objective of the experiment was to verify the concept of automatic transition of EC Karolin to islanded operation under the catastrophic system disaster conditions.
