Abstract

EN The inability to realize a CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) in higher mathematics is overcome thanks to CASes (Computer Algebra Systems). This article reports opinions, collected in surveys conducted in the years 1995-2012, on CASAME expressed by students trained in three different STEM areas (mathematics, physics, environmental engineering) at Poznań University of Technology, Poland. The focus is laid on opinions concerning CAS assistance in lessons in numerical methods. There are given several examples of successful and trouble-making CAS assistance, the opinions are analyzed and there are drawn conclusions aiming at the higher effectiveness of CAI.
