EN The presented paper aims to discuss diverse aspects in which the concepts of modernity and tradition are confronted during the design of architecture, using the example of contemporary adaptations of traditional detailing. The methods used are multiple case study, carried out on selected designs from diverse cultural regions, as well as comparative analysis. The study results allow to conclude that there are three essential features that successful adaptations of this type share in common. Firstly, it is the respect towards the differentiated cultural context of the selected works. The second aspect relies on rethinking the functionality assigned to the concerned detail typology, which gives its authenticity. Finally, the third feature is the use of contemporary trends with regard to the aesthetics.
PL Prezentowany tekst ma na celu omówienie różnych aspektów, w jakich dochodzi do konfrontacji pojęć nowoczesności i tradycji w projektowaniu architektonicznym na przykładzie tworzenia współczesnego detalu w oparciu o tradycyjne wzorce. Zastosowane metody to studium przypadku, przeprowadzone dla wybranych projektów z różnych regionów kulturowych, oraz analiza komparatywna. Wyniki badania pozwalają wyciągnąć wniosek, że udane adaptacje tego typu łączą w sobie trzy zasadnicze cechy. Po pierwsze, jest to respekt względem zróżnicowanego kontekstu kulturowego wybranych projektów. Drugi istotny aspekt polega na przemyśleniu funkcji przypisanej danej typologii detalu, która stanowi o jego autentyczności. Trzecia cecha odpowiada użyciu współczesnych trendów w zakresie estetyki.
