Abstract

EN Most manufacturing companies from the machine building industry are operating in a short-run and miscellaneous production which is very complex in terms of decision-making processes. In the face of fierce competition combined with changing customer expectations and requirements, enterprises strive to remain flexible. Decision making and efficient management of manufacturing processes based on facts and data are only possible with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the production system. The paper presents an original methodology of process mapping and provides a detailed description of its stages. The methodology provides guidance on the creation of a process map, identification of bottlenecks and key problems in a manufacturing system, and selection of an approach to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The methodology was applied in a manufacturing company operating in the packaging industry.
