Abstract

EN The article concerns selected technological aspects of carbide end mills regeneration. Geometry of cutting edges was measured (clearance angle α0, rake angle γ0 and cutting edge radius rn) of commercial and regenerated mills. The measurements were taken for the initial cutting edge wear and after 30 min of machining. In addition, a visual evaluation of the cutting edge state of new and regenerated cutters before and after machining was made. There were no significant differences in geometry changes and wear of commercial and regenerated cutters after machining. An increase in the radius rn and a decrease in the angle 𝛼0 was observed after cutting. The cost of regeneration including grinding and re-coating of cutters was 17% of the price of a new tool with a diameter of 10 mm.
