EN Steel-soil structures in a small and middle span are usually made of single corrugated overlapped plates. If the bending stiffness of such element is not enough to carry the loads, extra plates named Ribs should be used. They can be located on the whole periphery of the structure, as well as, in overburden sections. Ribs are bolted to the main barrel with the same distance as space between the holes in a barrel. This connection is also flexible when the space between the barrel and the rib is fulfilled with concrete, even if shear studs are used. In order to calculate the internal forces in the composite element, it is necessary to set a stiffness of the section i.e., both plates (barrel and rib) and concrete. This paper examines the scope of a single-plate systems and plates with overlays. As a criterion determining the stiffness are using uplift rate of shell, calculated for the phase of backfill. In the measurement of the shell deformation shows that the maximum deflection are present when soil backfill reaches the level of the key. Then there are the highest bending moments. The result of analysis doesn't concern on the box structures.
