PL W artykule omówiono pojęcie śladu węglowego oraz istotę ekologicznej oceny cyklu życia (LCA) paliw silnikowych. Metoda LCA stanowi podstawę określania norm emisji gazów cieplarnianych paliw silnikowych. Takie normy ustanowiono m.in. w jednym ze stanów USA oraz w Unii Europejskiej. W opracowaniu zwrócono również uwagę na znaczenie oceny cyklu życia w rozwoju biopaliw.
EN The paper discusses the concept of carbon footprint and the essence of life cycle assessment (LCA) of transportation fuels. The life cycle assessment is used to establish standards regulating greenhouse gas emissions from motor fuels. Such standards have been set in one of the states of the U.S. and in the European Union. The author also analyzes the role of LCA in the biofuels policy.
