Abstract

EN The presented paper refers to the recent study of shape optimization of dished ends with the aim of reducing the maximum von Mises stress. An adequate method is sought to manufacture pressure vessel models with optimized dished end. Following the results of the static tensile test, Multi Jet Fusion technology is selected to manufacture the models. After evaluating the mechanical properties of PA12 material, the dished end shape is reoptimized. Manufactured models are pressurized and strain gauge measurements are taken. Finally, the optimized stress distribution is compared with the numerical and experimental results, indicating a good agreement between them.
