Abstract

EN In this article, we present the IV-PSNR software, which allows for objective quality assessment of immersive video. The software outputs the IV-PSNR metric calculated for a pair of raw video files. The IV-PSNR metric is designed to mimic the subjective perception of the quality of rendered virtual views, which are characterized by artifacts induced by reprojection of pixels between different views. Since 2019, the IV-PSNR software is a reference software for immersive video quality assessment of the ISO/IEC MPEG VC standardization group and is commonly used both in standardization activities towards the development of the ISO/IEC 23090–12: MPEG immersive video (MIV) standard and scientific research on immersive video.
