EN General principles regarding high strength friction grip bolted connections are summarized, including connection classes and distribution of transmitted forces over connectors. The equations to compute force values are given. HSFG bolts allowed are characterized in terms of dimensions and mechanical properties. Bolt hole allowable arrangement in bridge structures and principles of setting design friction coefficient are given. Safety factors concerning HSFG bolts are presented as well as conditions that provide adequate load bearing capacity of individual bolts and bolted connections.
