EN The differences between the chronological age, resulting from the date of birth, and the bone age may indicate an endocrine or growth disorders. The wrist bones, also called the carpal bones, can be used to assess the skeletal maturity of children, i.e., bone age. One possibility to represent shapes is to solve a boundary value problem described by the Poisson’s equation subject to the Dirichlet boundary condition on the given shape to be represented (boundary of the considered region). This paper proposes three numerical meshless methods, i.e., the Trefftz method, method of fundamental solutions, and global radial basis function collocation method, for the shape representation of the children’s wrist bones obtained from hand radiographs. The obtained results are compared.
