EN This article presents a research methodology for measuring the density of solid carbon dioxide. Sublimation of this material under normal conditions, makes the method based on the measurement of the geometric parameters of the sample and its weight not accurate. In the case of materials whose geometrical parameters or weight are not constant over time (due to different physical phenomena), measurement of density using the hydrostatic method may be a better option. A relevant methodology is presented in this article. A case study was carried out on densified, i.e. solid carbon dioxide (a.k.a. dry ice). For this purpose, during density determination, it is required to use liquids that can be cooled to -74.5 degrees Celsius without losing their liquid properties, such as ethanol and isopropyl alcohol. The density of these two liquids in the temperature range under analysis was determined, followed by a preliminary determination of the dry ice density. The results allowed to formulate the guidelines for future experimental research on the carbon dioxide densification process.
