Abstract

EN Mobile infrastructure and in particular radio access network (RAN) sharing is becoming an important topic that mobile network operators are evaluating and considering in their expansion plans and investments decision. The arguments for network sharing are well known. It can substantially reduce CAPEX and OPEX, potentially increase the speed of network rollouts, improve coverage and help meet the capacity demands of increased data traffic. However, such projects are very complex and require significant alignment and commitment between operators that typically compete. This paper shares experiences and suggestions from one of the first consolidation project at this scale in Europe between Orange and T-Mobile Poland.
