Abstract

EN Municipal transportation systems are complex, multi-object systems of required high reliability and safety level and on the other hand ensuring high level of quality and low cost of service. These requirements and limitations need reliable information for making reasonable decisions. Data stored in operational databases is getting more and more large and more complex for processing. Operators tend to use advanced information concerning daily usage, maintenance, reliability, costs, and many other aspects. Paper shows assumptions and framework of the information system oriented on municipal rail transportation system. There are shown and shortly described analytical methods supporting decision process and schematic structure of the system. The proposed information system links manufacturer and end-user (operator) for making decisions regarding vehicle improvement and decreasing operational costs. Database covers all available data derived from usage, maintenance, accidents and failures as well as natural environment. Novelty of the presented approach is linking data from various fields of operation (Man-Engineering-Environment) and sharing it among two opponents: manufacturer and operator. Processed information is used by manufacturer to optimize design and estimate warranty costs while transport operator uses Life Cycle Cost assessment to specify reasonable operation strategy.
