Abstract

EN Traditional villages still play an important role because of its historic value and cultural Identity under the global urbanization wave nowadays. How to preserve the heritage culture and regenerate the traditional villages is a key issue to be concerned during rural revitalization process. In this paper, the adaptive design and experienced strategies will be clari!ed in this paper based on the selected case studies. The case studies from Chinese Traditional village named Shuiyucun and traditional village Espelette from France will be analyzed in the research. It is essential to analysis from the aspects of spatial planning, design methods,architectural style, layout of yards and non-material forms of cultural heritage in the traditional villages as well as heritage preservation, and fork religion,rural regeneration as well as sustainable development of the traditional villages. The experience of developing rural tourism and rural planning concept as well as smart design methods could be used as the guidance of regenerating traditional villages in China and in Europe.
