Streszczenie

EN This explorative qualitative study focuses on the relationships between university-based entrepreneurial activities, the requirement of a more practice-oriented application of research findings, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem with regard to contemporary business needs. The purpose of the study is to present a discussion of the theoretical framework that concerns the challenges of modern business (primarily, Industry 4.0) in Poland, technological entrepreneurship, and the entrepreneurial university approach that emphasizes the need for definitely more effective cooperation within the triple helix: university – industry – government. This is an attempt to adapt the existing insights and bring new factors together with the current reflections on business-science collaboration and efficient knowledge sharing while outlining the need to pay attention to the development of Industry 4.0. The contribution consists of the development of a conceptual model of relationships and interdependencies among the triple helix entities embedded in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with a strong focus on technological entrepreneurship. The model provides a framework for designing efficient business-science-government cooperation, visualizing and shedding light on the challenges of mutual relationships; at the same time, it helps to identify, prioritize, and execute the key paths that are crucial to achieving a common goal. The research finds that the patterns of business-science cooperation can vary considerably depending on the government’s support policy and the involvement of entrepreneurial ecosystem entities. The study may provide a starting point for in-depth empirical research and a contribution to the discussion on the methodological dilemmas associated with conducting research in this area. In order to obtain a deeper insight into the practical implication of the created model, a future investigation will focus on identifying the critical factors within the interdependencies among entrepreneurial universities, Industry 4.0, and governments towards technological entrepreneurship by using multiple case studies. The application of real business cases should provide insightful guidance for the needs of the rapid growth of Industry 4.0 and research-intensive organizations.
