Abstract

EN The purpose of this article was to determine the phase composition of ADI cast irons that would ensure maximum resistance to tribocorrosion. This article presents the results of testing four cast iron variants with different austenite content levels (40-12%) and, consequently, different hardness levels (284-387HB). In tests the resistance of the materials to abrasive wear and tribocorrosion in 3.5% NaCl was compared. It has been observed that the resistance to purely mechanical wear increases with an increase in the hardness level. However, the highest hardness does not ensure the highest resistance to tribocorrosion. The best complex of properties, which guarantees the lowest tribocorrosion, is found in the cast iron with an austenite content of about 20% and hardness of 382HB.
