Abstract

EN Today, when the demand for bandwidth increases in networks, it becomes necessary to ensure an appropriate and reliable service level for certain traffic classes. Optimal allocation and use of resources can be achieved through the use of call admission control (CAC) mechanisms in networks. One of the most popular mechanisms is the resource reservation mechanism and the threshold mechanism. In the reservation mechanism, some resources are available only to selected (predefined) services. However, when the threshold mechanism is used, the amount of resources allocated to individual classes depends on the network load. This article discusses simulation studies of the traffic characteristics of elastic optical network (EON) nodes with a Clos structure and implemented CAC mechanisms. In the article, the results obtained with the use of the simulator developed by the author were presented.
