Abstract

EN Lattice structures based on the Triply periodicminimal surfaces (TPMS) are recently of significant interest because of their specific mechanical properties and low weight. Most studies focus on the static or dynamic compression of these structures. The goal of this paper is to verify the response of selected TPMS lattices to projectile impact. The design of such structures is not easy because of their complex shapes and thus a special freely-available software called MSLattice was used to prepare the geometry for numerical analyses. Two types of TMPS shapes were selected for this study – gyroid and I-WP. The analyses were performed using an explicit dynamics solver in Abaqus FEA software, assuming a rigid projectile. Johnson-Cook plasticity model was used, including failure and element deletion.
