Abstract

EN The aim of the research presented in this paper was to investigate the CFRP-steel adhesive joint subjected to shear stresses. The shear strength of the adhesive connection was evaluated using the tensile tests. Test samples were made of steel plates connected at both sides with CFRP SikaWrap 230 C by SikaDur 330 adhesive. The adhesive used in both series of samples had a width of 20 mm and a thickness of 0.5 mm. The first series had the connection overlap length of 55 mm, and the second had an overlap length of 30 mm. The INSTRON SATEC 300 DX testing device was used to conduct the tests. Laboratory results and a previously developed numerical model were compared. In the FE program ABAQUS, the coupled cohesive zone model (CZM) was applied.
