Abstract

EN We report and analyze several recent (globally, since 2010) francophone studies on HRM in African context. Most of These studies are based on case studies. They highlight African specificities almost exclusively from a cultural point of view. The studies seem to present two weaknesses. Methodologically, they are often poorly conceptualized and proceed from validation of presuppositions. In theoretical but also empirical terms, culturalist bias is very present. According to some authors, we consider the need to deconstruct the cultural essentialism that permeates most of the work, in particular in favour of (neo) institutional approaches that give their full place to actors’ games and power processes.
