Abstract

EN The following paper provides an analysis of micro-scale structural parameters of surfaces produced through Selective Laser Melting (SLM) under various configurations of 3D printing parameters. The examined samples were manufactured with different settings of two key manufacturing parameters: laser power and scanning speed. The surface measurements were conducted using a X-ray micro-computed tomography and post-processing using Volume Graphics and MountainsMap software. ISO 25178 standard parameters were calculated and correlated with laser power and scanning speed. The SLM technology is associated with the formation of so-called re-entrant features. Given the intricacy of such features, the application of a microCT is justified, as no other measurement method, whether contact or optical, allows their acquisition with high fidelity. It was shown that changes in laser power and scanning speed are strongly correlated with surface characterization parameters. The presented analysis can contribute to better understanding of the formation process in SLM and to optimize the manufacturing processes to improve the surface quality of fabricated parts.
