Abstract

EN This paper assesses the possibility of identifying the type of subgrade of the asphalt pavement on the basis of a set of calculated values of surface moduli (substitute moduli). These values were obtained from the frequency-normalized results of measurements of pavement deflections under dynamic load. The analysis of the shape of the curves created on the basis of the calculated values of surface moduli was adopted as the basis for the assessment. Empirical data were obtained from testing the pavements of the test sections with different types of subgrade. It is expected that the results of the analyses will make it possible to develop a method for automatic recognition of whether the subgrade consists of cohesive or non-cohesive soils.
