Abstract

EN This study deals with the comparative analysis and assessment of fractional slot concentrated windings permanent magnet synchronous motors wound as 3, 6, 9 and 12 phase machines suited for low speed applications. Special attention was given to distortions of back emf and magnetomotive force, the torque ripples and performance studies. Investigations have been performed using finite element models for back emf and performance studies as well as an analytical approach were conducted for the magnetomotive force analysis. Selected simulation and experimental results have been presented.
