EN The genesis of international cooperation of three academic centres (Lithuania, Poland and Germany) is discussed. The impact of specific conditions of this cooperation (technical and political) on the results is considered. Furthermore, our attention is focused on a new form of cooperation – EURO Working Group on Operational Research for Sustainable Development and Civil Engineering. Multidimensionality and multi-application of the subject matter of the Colloquia & EWG-ORSDCE are discussed in three groups of problems: (1) the scope of considerations during the Colloquia and EWG-ORSDCE; (2) research instruments, methods, phenomena; (3) representative applications in engineering and economics. Characteristic elements of the evolution of research problems and the evolution of methods are indicated. Supremacy of multi-criteria decision-making tools (MCDM) is evident; therefore, examples of newly developed and extended methods are presented. The presentation ends with the following statement: the idea of the Colloquia (within the EURO Working Group) is now in the hands of young people and should be addressed to them. It should be their platform.
