Abstract

EN The article presents the author's view on multicultural context in architecture as a key to spatial harmony. Review suggests that multicultural context is an important element in the identity and in the history of the place and points that multicultural context is essential feature of sustainable development. The analysis caused to select a range of elements of multicultural approach in architecture: cultural patterns, cross-cultural communication, glocalization, space branding, multicultural canons. By situating the problem within current debates in multicultural context, we offer new approach to amplify architectural identity through developing intercultural capital that enables to attain creative architectural solutions. We conclude that the cross-cultural context is an important element of contemporary architecture.
