EN This paper presents thermography as a reliable and fast diagnostic tool for flexible drives. The subject of the research was a flexible connection drive with a NE22 flat belt. These belts are used in machines and equipment that serve driving and transport functions. The dependence of changes in the temperature of the belt and pulleys on the variable load applied with the use of a magnetorheological brake was adopted as the diagnostic characteristic. The ability to ensure the correct and long-term operation of the flexible drives was assessed. It was found that the most favourable operating conditions occur when the temperature values of the driving and slack sides are similar, and the difference between them is stabilised. The conducted tests and analysis of the measurement results indicate the usefulness of thermal imaging diagnostics for the assessment of the thermal state occurring in flexible connection drives under changing loads. The analysis of the test results helped to determine the limits of belt applicability, proper material selection for components and the impact of errors occurring during the manufacture and assembly of the flexible connection drive.
